The Faculty of Computer Applications, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute University Off – Campus Arni organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” on 23rd October 2025 (Thursday) at 10.00 a.m. The session was arranged under the guidance and benevolence of Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, Chancellor of Dr. M.G.R. University and Founder-Chairman, ACS Group of Educational Institutions, Arni, and Tmt. S. Lalithalakshmi, Managing Trustee.The event was presided over by Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar, President, Dr. M.G.R. University, Arni Campus, and Chairman, ACS Group of Educational Institutions.
The resource person for the lecture was Dr. C.M. Nalayini, Assistant Professor, Velammal Engineering College, who delivered an insightful session on the emerging concepts, applications, and advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.A total of 150 participants enthusiastically attended the event. The audience comprised students from BCA, MCA, B.Sc(IS & CF), and Engineering & Technology departments.
The session commenced with a prayer song followed by a warm welcome address by the faculty of the Department of Computer Applications followed by th felicitation ceremony honored the distinguished dignitaries of Dr. M.G.R. University, including the Dean, Joint Registrars, Deputy Deans, Vice Principal, and Heads of Departments.
Dr. C.M. Nalayini began her lecture by introducing the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, explaining how these technologies are transforming industries across the globe. She emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making, neural networks, and automation in the modern digital landscape.The speaker also discussed real-world applications of AI in fields such as healthcare, education, robotics, and business analytics. The interactive session encouraged students to participate and clarify their doubts, fostering an engaging learning atmosphere.
